Accessing BioPortal material
This section introduces the researcher to the process of accessing data and materials, as well as the process of sharing published results generated from the data and samples.

Open science, open access
BioPortal is built on the principle of Open Science. Any qualified investigator or partner worldwide can apply to access BioPortal’s data. To do so, applicants must:
- Agree to BioPortal’s legal framework
- Obtain independent REB (Research Ethics Board) approval
- Be approved by the Data and Samples Access Committee (DSAC)
While biospecimen samples are finite and require strong scientific justification for use, all analyses already conducted on these samples — including genomics and Olink HT Explore proteomics — are available to approved researchers.
What data is available
(via Bento)
BioPortal organizes its datasets through the Bento platform. Currently collected data and resources include:
Number of patients recruited
Samples available: blood and tissue samples with linked
clinical information
Genomics data: sequencing and variant information
Proteomics data: Olink HT Explore panels
Clinical and demographic data: structured patient metadata
How to apply for access
1
Complete and submit the Data or Samples Request Form
2
Provide Ethics Approval
3
Sign the Data/Material Transfer Agreement (D/MTA)
