We are excited to announce that BioPortal, a comprehensive diabetes research cohort based at the Jewish General Hospital and affiliated with McGill University, is now officially accepting data access applications from researchers across the globe.
What Makes BioPortal Unique?
BioPortal currently includes 6,000 participants living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, with ongoing recruitment aiming to expand the cohort to 12,000 participants in the coming years. Notably, more than half of the participants are of non-European heritage, providing a highly diverse and real-world clinical dataset.
What truly sets this cohort apart is the unprecedented depth and breadth of the multi-modal data available:
- Olink Proteomics (5400 HT): High-throughput proteomics data for 1,500 participants, with an additional 1,500 becoming available for academic researchers within the year.
- Retinal Imaging: Comprehensive retinal imaging across the cohort.
- Complete Medical Records: Full longitudinal medical histories with ongoing data collection.
- Laboratory & Medication Data: Extensive lab test results and detailed medication tracking.
- Advanced Imaging: Multiple imaging modalities, with more actively being added.
- Coming Soon: Whole genome genotyping is currently underway.
